Mr. Baum brings in over 40 years of leadership in business development. Previously Mr. Baum served as the Chief Business Development Officer of Genomatica, Inc. since September 2010.
Mr. Baum served as an Executive Vice President of Business Development at Verenium Corporation (formerly BASF Enzymes LLC and Diversa Corporation) from July 2002 to September 3, 2010 and also served as its General Manager of Specialty Enzyme Business Unit until September 3, 2010. He served as General Manager of Specialty Enzymes since June 2007, after the merger of Diversa and Celunol closed. He served as Executive Vice President- Chemical Agriculture and Industrial Enzymes Business at Verenium Corporation since July 2002. He served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Diversa Corporation since August 1997, served as its Senior Vice President, Business Development since November 1999, Executive Vice President of Chemical, Agriculture and Industrial Enzymes Business since July 2002 and an Executive Vice President of Bioscience products. He served as Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing of International Specialty Products, Inc. (ISP), a billion dollar specialty chemical company from July 1993 to August 1997. He served at International Specialty Products, Inc. Mr. Baum served at Betz Laboratories, also a specialty chemical company for 20 years in a variety of international and domestic executive management positions and served as its Executive Vice President of European Operations and Managing Director of Betz GmbH. In these roles, Bill has led in generating $500 million in strategic partnerships, including two joint ventures and research collaborations with BASF, Bunge, BP, DuPont, Dow, Syngenta, Cargill, Bayer and DSM.
Mr. Baum served as an Executive Chairman of Genomatica, Inc. since September 2010 and serves as its Director. He has been a Director of Leaf Resources Limited since June 16, 2017, Gevo, Inc., since January 19, 2016 and ZeaChem, Inc. since June 30, 2016. He serves as Member of Advisory Board of Yulex Corporation.
Mr. Baum holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Widener University.
